'Unglue' that motor!

Post by wixwacing »

There are times, I'm sure, when you regret having glued a motor in. Maybe you want to upgrade it or maybe you need to change a pinion? If the motor has been 'Hot' glued, carving away with a modelling knife with risk to life, limb and model is one alternative. Another I have recently come across is to apply some 'Shellite' (lighter fuel) to the bonded areas and ease the motor from the chassis. The ‘shellite’ seems to free the bond surfaces as it peels off. Because of its quick evaporating nature, it may be necessary to apply more than once but it does work.

Caution: Shellite can cloud clear parts. Always use Shellite in a well ventilated area and away from naked flames.

When I'm not racing slotcars,
I'm out in the back yard, burning food!!

When I win, it's because of my talent, not my car or my controller!
