Re: Slotcar of the year

I had in mind to say something on the order of, "I'll be the only one who thinks so, but..." but someone already said it. My vote surprisingly, is the Fly Sunred. I was amazed by the quality, detail, and out of the box performance. I have always enjoyed the Fly cars, but accepted that ther...

Re: A Genuine 24 Hour Slor Race

Seriously, Cyph is right. You can drive a lot longer than you can marshall a curve. As soon as you come off a driving shift, get away from the track and rest, then go back to marshall for half your "off" time. It makes a difference. And pay more attention to spectators than usual. We had s...

Re: Cars - What have you bought/what are you buying?

I've been working my way through a sort of challenge in 1/24. Its a lot of work. But I really like the dirt track modified.

Re: A Genuine 24 Hour Slor Race

I have heard of a few 24, and 12 hour Enduros, and the delicate nature of slot cars become rather obvious in these things. They have spares for motors, crowns, pinions, etc, as part of the rules for each team. They have rules for how long the driving shifts are, all kinds of stuff. As a veteran of a...

Re: Decal challenge

WOW! I recently posted my latest on another forum, talking about how hard the decalling was. I'm ashamed to say how much easier it was that that! Good job!

Re: Not to be missed

Yep, that's the first thing I did. It looked naked, but it was a lot more important to me that silly censoring twits don't get to tell me what my slot car looks like.

Re: Sanding / Set Up Blocks

Do you folks have a kitchen countertop material called "Corian"? I believe the manufacturer is DuPont. It is perfectly flat, and tools like wood. I use it for set-up blocks and for power run-in as well as for sanding tires. I simply cut the slot with my table saw, run copper tape down the ...

Re: Slotcar Legends Racing April round

None taken, believe me. A lot of us have been to places where "Yank" means American, however mystifying it is to Americans who don't come from the industrial Northeast of the USA, where the Yankees live. When I lived in London, Ontario Canada, I was known as "The Yank", among my ...

Re: Ninco Lotus Exige

Yep. I quit Ninco forever when they produced the "pre-broken" Moslers and refused to stand behind the product or even admit their design was faulty. Later, they reinforced the weak chassis, but never offered even an admonition that they made the first ones stupidly. Then they raised their ...

Re: Nissan Pick up 'Paris - Dakar'

That's exactly what I thought, but they overcame that somehow. They were running classes on a snowy hillclimb. I never could see if they had a brush on the front of the guide, but that's what I surmised they were doing. I looked for it, but could not find the pictures online that I remember. I'll ke...

Re: Nissan Pick up 'Paris - Dakar'

I've seen some pretty great looking snow races that people did outdoors using flour. I've wondered about it. It shouldn't be that hard to seal up the works against debris getting into the gears or bushings, but maintaining traction and keeping electrical contact seem to me to be the big problems to ...

Re: Stupidest thing you've come across on a slot car?

Now that's just weird. I have four of these things and never saw that before. On the other hand, I never saw the rear tires on the front before either!
