Re: Stupidest thing you've come across on a slot car?

I bought a car that was mounted on a bubble on cardboard, hanging on a peg like parts. It had been marked down, and it had a nice looking body, so I took the chance. The useless blister pack had fallen apart, and the body was permanently warped by the crush. I worked on it for an afternoon, softenin...

Re: Ostorero Lotus 79

Exactly. I have a somewhat deserved reputation for fixing smashed slot cars, and I worked on no less than five of the gorgeous Vanquish John Player Lotus cars. Without exception, no one who knew me was able to resist running these delicate cars, and every single one was smashed in some way. After I ...

Re: F1- the idiocy starts before the racing does!!

Oh crap! Its a hoax. They got me, big as Texas, they absolutely got me. I even spread the word to other forums. In the upper right corner is a small gray box that reads, "Humor". Everything else by this author reads, "Opinion". It was certainly believable, given the idiocy Bernie...

Re: F1- the idiocy starts before the racing does!!

I've just come from writing an email to Bernie and Maxie, demanding their resignation, and promising to testify against them when F-1 collapses under their lack of leadership. I know it won't mean anything to those rich bastards, but when F-1 collapses (because F-1 fans aren't trailer trash NASCAR r...

Re: Are you okay?

On behalf of my friends (now homeless, but alright), thanks to those who have been so kind as to have events to help out. My other friends in Melbourne (Greenville?), have taken them in for now, and there is a buzz of emails back and forth between all of them and my wife. It will be a while until th...

Are you okay?

I am under the impression that most of you are in NSW, but I don't know that for a fact. My friends in Victoria are too close to the fires for comfort. One is in Kinglake, the others are all in and around Melbourne. Are you all northwest of the fires and safe?

Hey Rob (cyph), I have seen some amazing tracks that sucked up into people's ceilings. Would you like me to get you the links to how they did it, or have you seen them, too?

Re: 'Racer' start the 2009 ball rolling

Here in the U.S, Racer is selling (or is that NOT selling?), most of their range at $260-$280 American, and very few are being sold. Many fewer are being raced. The DP cars are part of a range called "Sideways" that arrived without fanfare or explanation, and they are selling rather well a...

Re: Global economy? Scalextric to the rescue!

I have been looking at it again, and I am still astounded (gobsmacked?), by the variety and the quantity of offerings that are coming. I'm beginning to wonder about the strata that will be hurt most by all this financial bad news. Scaley seems to think that the middle incomes (most of us), will have...

Re: Looking for a Plymouth!

Disney has a website with sets of character cars from the movie. They are roughly 1/30 scale. I did a Hudson Hornet by sectioning the body vertically to slim it down. Its fairly believeable, actually. Nice weight to the plastic body, too- good for smacking competitors with a good old 1950's fishtail...

Re: Rules!! I'll give you RULES

Ahhhh. The unspecified Double Salanctum rule. Signified by the unauthorized Falartin, brazenly displayed with T-shirt contrabanding. Civilized society must be protected from these miscreants! What would happen if people didn't wear the right t-shirts, I ask you? Chaos! Mass hysteria! Actually, we tr...
