Slotcar Legends March meeting

Post by wixwacing »

G'day boys
The March round of Slotcar Legends will soon be on us. When?

Saturday 21st March

Where

Jordan and Therese's, Boondall

Time

Arrive 2.00 pm onwards for a 4.00 pm start

Class 1. Track owners choice - Historic Can Am 1966 - 1974 open motor

Class 2. DTM restricted motor 18,000 rpm

Class 3. Historic GP

The Can Am class has been split into two races. a. 1/32 scale and b. others. Loosely this means that Vanquish models will race separately from true 1/32 scale models, in their own race, and 1/32 scale will have their own race. The reason being that the Vanquish models are too dominant and are not 1/32 true scale. Drivers will NOT be able to race both races. There will be the same amount of heats but there will be a short change over period between scales.

For the benefit of those that aren't sure if they have a qualifying car, I have researched the class and the following cars are bona fide entrants.

Historic Can Am 1966 – 1974
McLaren M6 McLaren M8 Lola T70 spyder
Porsche 917/10 spyder Porsche 917/30 spyder Shadow Mk2/3
BRM P167 Chapparal 2E/F/G/H/J Lola T160
Lola T163 Lola T260 Lola T310
Autocoast Ti22 Porsche 908 spyder Ferrari 612/P
Porsche 917 spyder Ford GT40 March 707
McLaren M20 Lola T220 Caldwell D7
Ferrari P4 Spyder Ferrari 712 Ford Honker II
Cro-Sal Special Caldwell D7 Ford GT40
McLaren M1a/b/c Matichi SR3 McKee Mk7
Ferrari 330 P3/4 spyder Porsche 906 Cooper Ford
Wolverine-Chev Chinook Mk I Genie Mk 10
Shelby King Cobra McKee Mk 6 Stanton Special
Ferrari Dino 206 Hamill SR3 Special Mirage Olds
Denmacher Porsche Lotus 30 Lotus 19B
Brabham-Oldsmobile Lotus 23 Ford G7A
Burnet Chevrolet Matra MS 650 Lola T162
Lola T70Mk 3 BRM P154 Ferrari 312P
Ferrari 512S Ferrari 512 M McLaren M12a
Rattenberry MK4B Ferrari 512P Lola T222
Alfa Romeo T33/3 Hodges LSR Ferrari 712M
Costello SP7 Shadow DN2 Shadow DN4
Sting GW1
I have chosen DTM again since Al's, as I think it will be a good sedan class for this track without dragging Rally back again.

Lastly, I would like to remind some that metal wheels are not allowed in Legends racing unless the class specifies it either directly or indirectly (ie. particular make).

If anyone has any queeries, please post a reply or email me at:

So if I buy a slot,it the fact that it has metal rims wont dis-qualify it?

I was hoping the Sloter cars I bought a couple of months ago (Ferrari 312PB, Lola T290) would qualify but they arent on that list.

Not a problem Bill,

Just buy a GT40 and you will fit into most classes we run

Phil, There is not a Cooper Monaco in your list.... does this fit in as a Cooper Ford :?:
Cheers

Hi Bill

You can race you Slot.it in any Slot.it race or any race designated as an 'open' race ie Classic Le Mans. Usually a 'track owners choice'.
For Q32 races you would need to speak to Glen.

And Yes, I see nothing wrong with running the Lola or the 312P(B) in the up coming Can-Am event. The class was specifically meant to allow the Vanquish models a bit of a competetive stoush for those that have them. You will fall into the 1/32 category with these.

Hi Kev,

You're correct in your assumption. The Cooper Monaco, as it was ly called, had, if I'm not mistaken, either a Coventry Climax or some other engine in it and Mr Shelby decided to shoe horn a particularly large V8 into its loins! Externally the cars were similar in the early models. So go for it!
